England international, who is valued at around £30 million, has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates
Nottingham Forest are showing strong interest in Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, who is available for transfer this summer after talks broke down with Marseille.
Arsenal have been expecting to field serious Premier League interest for Nketiah, an England international, and Forest have now emerged as a potential destination for the 25-year-old.
Crystal Palace are also long-term admirers of Nketiah and could make a move this summer, while Bournemouth also showed interest earlier in the window before signing Brazilian striker Evanilson from Porto in a club-record deal.
Arsenal are understood to value Nketiah at around £30 million and it remains to be seen whether Forest choose to pursue a deal at that price, with other names on their list of potential forward targets.
Telegraph Sport understands Forest are still assessing their options in the striker market, with Nketiah one of at least three options. Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who could also cost in the region of £30 million, is another player of interest.
Forest’s admiration of Nketiah dates back a number of years, to his time on loan at Leeds United in the Championship during the 2019/20 season.
Nketiah made his England debut last year but has fallen out of favour at Arsenal following the successful redeployment of Kai Havertz as a striker in the second half of last season.
Nketiah’s last start for Arsenal was in December and it has been the expectation for months that this would be the summer in which he permanently departs the club he first joined as an academy player.
The sale of Nketiah would help Arsenal to step up their attempts to strengthen their squad, with talks ongoing with Real Sociedad over midfielder Mikel Merino. The Spain international is expected to cost in the region of £30 million.
